In 2014, CarPlay was first introduced, revolutionizing the automotive industry. With CarPlay, there was no longer a need to connect phones or additional navigation devices to a car's central console, which often led to a cluttered interior. Instead, drivers could simply connect their smartphones to the car's infotainment system and access various functions, including Google Maps, online music, and AirPlay or MirrorLink on the car's central display. This eliminated the need to replace the original screen with an additional one, thus maintaining the vehicle's functionality. CarPlay's clean and smooth interface brought convenience and safety to driving, making it increasingly popular.
However, not all cars were equipped with CarPlay, even those manufactured between 2014 and 2016. After experiencing the CarPlay system, many drivers couldn't do without it and wanted to retrofit it into their vehicles. To meet this demand, manufacturers developed CarPlay adapters compatible with various car models and replacement screens, giving older cars a new lease on life. This meant drivers didn't need to buy a new car just for CarPlay, although the installation process could be complex.
The Carlikeit BZ1, specifically designed for Mercedes-Benz's NTG4.5 system, offers a seamless solution. It can be installed in the Becker slot of the glove compartment, replacing the original navigation module. With the Carlikeit BZ1, drivers not only gain navigation capabilities but also enjoy CarPlay and Android Auto systems. Moreover, it allows steering wheel control and seamless switching to the rearview camera, without causing any issues or negative impacts on the car. Unlike other options that require disassembling the central infotainment system, the Carlikeit BZ1 only needs to be inserted into the Becker slot in the glove compartment of Mercedes-Benz vehicles.
It's important to note that the standard Mercedes radio (single button) still works but cannot output sound simultaneously with the media interface. Thus, drivers can either listen to the radio or sound from the media interface. For example, while using Google Maps navigation on the screen, the standard car radio can play without voice prompts. When necessary, drivers can switch to media interface sound (by pressing the Mercedes [Disc] button) to receive all messages and turn-by-turn navigation from Google Maps, temporarily silencing the radio.
The latest Carlikeit BZ1 features dual Bluetooth functionality, enhancing sound quality. Previously, both audio and video were transmitted via Wi-Fi. Now, video is transmitted via Wi-Fi, while audio is transmitted via Bluetooth, resulting in a significant improvement in sound quality. This sound separation offers a better audio experience.
The Carlikeit BZ1 is compatible with Mercedes-Benz vehicles equipped with the NTG4.5 system. Please check if your car's glove compartment has a Becker module slot before purchasing.
