Does it use the aux input?

Yes, before you go to the carplay system, you need to choose aux option on your original radio system. The carplay system sound work through aux channel.

This unit will work with oem system please don't worry. It doesn't matter if your car doesn't AUX input socket but you still have to select AUX in the oem system before switch to carplay.
